ABOUT US Hillary Fisher, mother of two children (including a teenager), is known for making customers feel comfortable and welcome in her store. She loves clothes, but more importantly, she loves clothes that make women feel great about themselves. “I look for that sparkle in the eye when they pop out of the dressing room and look in the mirror,” she says. “If I don’t see that, I don’t let them buy it. When there’s no hesitation, just confidence radiating, you know, you just know the decision is right.” Making a major life change, Hillary left a comfortable corporate job to buy Modern Times from the original owner, Lisa Marcusson. By chance, the two met and instantly connected, both re-inventing themselves. They both agreed that Modern Times would continue it’s long history in Chapel Hill. Modern Times pioneered fashion in Chapel Hill more than 25 years ago. It has always been THE shop for finding anything from that perfect dress to that pair of yoga pants you can’t live without. The first shop to bring Michael Stars, Custo and Betsey Johnson to town, Modern Times has a rich history of knowing exactly what Chapel Hill women want to wear.
